"The Boys"の初日は、１９９１年、２月２８日。シドニーのグリフィン・シアター・カンパニーで上演されました。シドニーにはあまたの劇場があるわけですが、このグリフィン・シアター・カンパニーというのは、ステイブル・シアターのレジデント・シアターという位置づけのシアターだそうで、単純に舞台公演を行うシアターというだけでなく、 ワークショップも開催されており、（俳優向けのものや指導者向けのものなど充実しているようです）。若手の（俳優、プロデューサー 監督 脚本家）を育てる劇場っぽい感じです。シドニー・オペラ・ハウスのプレイハウスを拠点とするシドニー・シアター・カンパニーや、ニール・アームフィールドの演出でシドニー演劇界を席巻していたBelvoir St TheatreのCompany Bなどといった有名どころとは観客層から違いそうな感じです。

これは９１年３月２日の記事からの引用なんですが、初日あけてすぐ、かなり好意的というか積極的に紹介してあって、よっぽどインパクトのあった舞台だったのかな、という感じがしました。
This gut-wrenching play about a brutal murder-rape polarised the profession when it was workshopped at the Australian National Playwrights' Conference in 1988. Alex Galleazzi's no-holds-barred production, led by David Wenham and Lynette Curran, brought the terror home on the tiny Stables stage.
